Since 1949, TVCC has been working with children and youth to help them reach their full potential. Today, a wide range of services and supports are provided for young people with physical disabilities, communication disorders, developmental delays and autism spectrum disorders to support them in attaining the best available quality of life and health. In partnership with local and regional agencies, TVCC annually serves more than 9,000 children, youth and their families from birth to age 19 across Southwestern Ontario in over 700 locations.

We are recruiting for a full-time (37.5 hours per week), Human Resources Generalist.  This position is expected to begin in November 2021.

The successful candidate will contribute to and promote the organization’s values and relationship-centered approach by supporting staff and the leadership team while working collaboratively with other members of the Human Resources team. The Human Resources Generalist will report to the Director of Human Resources.

Responsibilities:

• As a primary contact for designated service areas, the Human Resources Generalist will be involved in a wide variety of Human Resource functions, which may include:
• Interpretation of Human Resources policies and practices, the collective agreement, and legislative requirements
• Supporting the leadership team in the recruitment of new employees including tracking vacancies, advertising positions, participating in interviews, coordinating/completing reference checks and preparing employment contracts/letters
• Providing support for accommodations, sick leaves, end of employment, leaves of absence, and other employment related situations
• Provide benefit orientation for new staff, supporting staff with benefit questions, and updating the insurance providers as required
• Along with the Joint Health & Safety Committees, develop and maintain the Health and Safety program, track and report all incidents, develop health and safety material for distribution to staff
• Administer WSIB process for reportable incidents and manage WSIB claims
• Actively participate in the development and tracking of training & development programs
• Participate in labour relations functions such as interpretation of the collective agreement
• Conduct investigations/mediations in order to resolve workplace issues

Qualifications:

• A university degree in a related field, and CHRL designation (we will consider candidates with a  CHRP designation actively working towards completion of the CHRL)
• Previous experience working in a Human Resources Generalist role preferably in a unionized environment
• Solid knowledge of employment legislation
• Demonstrated experience conducting behavioural based interviews
• Highly developed interpersonal relationship skills, written and oral communication skills
• Ability to problem-solve, facilitate and coach others to positive outcomes
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines, multi-task, and be detail oriented
• Ability to be highly confidential with internal and external customers
• Excellent computer skills including proficiency in MS Office package of programs, HRIS database management and Crystal Reporting
• Proficiency in the French language would be considered an asset
