Summary of Duties

Works under the general direction of a Supervisor or designate. 

Performs the design and manufacturing of various sign lettering and symbols for City owned facilities and infrastructure.

Work Performed

To perform the preparation, fabrication application and assembly of regulatory signs and other signs.

Design and fabricate signs using graphic computer systems and hand methods utilizing a variety of sign materials.

Design and produce artwork, positives and screens incorporating scanners, plotters, camera and light table.

Use hand and power tools and equipment such as brushes, stencils, cut all, spray gun, vacuum applicator and other tools of the trade.

Required to perform minor maintenance and repairs to equipment.

Prepare and maintain written reports and work records.

Maintain inventory of stock materials and supplies.

Assisted by other employee(s) in the performance of tasks.

May be required to show others how to perform tasks or duties.

As assigned, performs related duties which are transient, or of an emergency nature, or which are minor but recurring.

Qualifications/Experience

Successful completion of Grade 12 in the Province of Ontario or equivalent plus additional Sign Graphics program or equivalent.

Specialized Training & Licenses

Working knowledge of the design and manufacture of signs and lettering including related computerized tools.

Certificate of Qualification in Sign Graphics.

Valid Class G Driver's Licence.

Note: Shift work may be required.

Compensation and Other Information

$26.06 - $28.93 per hour
