Established in 1984, Canadian Motivel’s core business involves custom fabrication of electrical insulating materials. Our customer base includes transformer manufacturers and magnet wire producers, among others. Our capabilities include slitting, winding, die cutting, folding and forming flexible materials with a focus on customer service and innovative problem-solving solutions. In addition, we also carry a complementary line of industrial products including tapes, abrasives, portable air tools and various other consumables.

JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Business Manager to join our Cambridge team.
Reporting to the General Manager our ideal candidate will support multiple aspects of the business by collaborating closely with the General Manager and Production Supervisor in the areas of manufacturing, customer service, quality, business development, planning, sales, and daily business activities.
The candidate must demonstrate strong leadership capabilities and critical thinking skills with the ability to anticipate changes in work demands and demonstrating flexibility in completing tasks while following establish processes that deliver exceptional results and on-time delivery.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work closely with the General Manager and Production Supervisor to support, oversee, and manage the day-to-day operational activities; development of KPI’s; participate in capital plan requirements; analyze costs and look for opportunities to reduce costs, review pricing and other financial data relative to day-to-day operations of the business.
  • Provide customer quotes and respond to new inquiries
  • Liaison between our customers and production.
  • Support with training initiatives.
  • Manage customer orders for key customers and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Analyze and maintain sales volume and contribution margins of assigned accounts.
  • Enter orders ensuring accuracy of pricing, create work orders and confirm ship dates.
  • Purchase inventory and ensure minimum stock levels are maintained.
  • Find creative ways to solve production challenges and suggest areas of improvement.
  • Provide technical information/advise/feedback to customers on product inquiries or complaints.
  • Maintain a knowledge and understanding of production processes to ensure prompt response to customers and effectively maintain capacity requirements.
  • Actively seek solutions to improve processes by identifying and closing process gaps.
  • Support in updating and maintaining quality control documentation as required.
  • Ensure work and daily activities are in compliance with systems and all Company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain quality systems, complete shop floor quality check and record findings.
  • Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Post-secondary education required, degree or diploma in business or a technical program.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Leadership skills and abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • The ability to complete calculations in metric and imperial.
  • The ability to read drawings is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize work.
  • Flexible team player.
  • Ambitious and eager to learn.
