We are currently recruiting Casual/Relief staff for Anago’s Genest Detention Centre for Youth. The successful candidates will have a strong background in residential services for youth and be responsible for all aspects of child and youth work. Please note that Relief employees at Genest Detention Centre for Youth are responsible to maintain the custody & security of youth during transport for the Chatham/Kent & Essex County transportation loop.
 
Qualifications:
  • Able to establish therapeutic relationships on the basis of respect and trust
  • Willingness to promote our Corporate philosophy
  • Ability/willingness to lead individuals through a process of self-evaluation and goal setting consistent with Cognitive Behaviour Theory
  • Experience supporting individuals with mental health issues, including suicidal ideation
  • Support individuals with daily living while pursuing leisure and recreational opportunities
  • Ability to write clear, concise observations of behaviour
  • Advocate on behalf of individuals to achieve goals
  • Proven computer skills, Microsoft Office preferred
  • Sound judgment & ability to manage aggressive & complex situations
  • Proven ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem solving skills; attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work well as part of the team
  • Valid Ontario full (G) Driver’s Licence & current Driver’s Abstract, current Police Records Check & Vulnerable Position Screening, Health Assessment, Standard First Aid & CPR Certificate, PMAB
  • Post Secondary in a related field or equivalent
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience supporting youth with complex and high behaviour needs
 
Work Location:              Genest Detention Centre for Youth (GDCY) – London, ON
 
Starting Wage:              $16.69 per hour plus 4% vacation pay
