Role:

Reporting to the Manager, Core Area Programs, the Dundas Place Community Animator is responsible for supporting a variety of activations and animations on Dundas Place including Market Lane and other parts of the Core Area. Examples of activities include: working with partners in the delivery of community and cultural programs, set up and tear down, communications, and ensuring safety protocols are being followed. Other duties as assigned may also be required. 
 

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the activation and animation of Dundas Place.
  • Liaise, coordinate, and provide excellent communication with a range of partners, visitors, businesses, community groups and staff.
  • Provide photography and social media support for animation activities.
  • Set up and tear down of activations.
  • Develop and test creative ideas for public space animation.
  • Assist with the supervision of the Dundas Place Operations  Assistants when on site. 
  • Provide customer Service and payment handling for animation activities.
  • Demonstrate commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and human rights through practices and interactions with community partners, employees and individuals and support programs and initiatives that reflect this commitment. 
  • Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Health and Safety legislation and programs; actively promote a culture of safety.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 16 years of age. 
  • Standard First Aid (prior to the start of employment or the ability to obtain)
  • Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) (Prior to the start of employment)
  • Experience with audio and visual equipment, music and photography skills are assets.
  • Community engagement, event planning, or marketing experience is an asset. 
  • Training or experience in social work or mental health intervention is an asset. 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to demonstrate good communication, high energy, and enthusiasm. 
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills. 
  • Able to work with minimum supervision. 
  • Ability to problem solve and deal with conflict. 
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. 
  • High level of comfort in fast paced public facing environments.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages.
