Cargill Value Added Meats - Foodservice operates a chicken processing plant in London, ON and is looking for 2 Operations Trainer(s).

As the Operations Trainer at our chicken processing plant in London, ON, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of training delivery and contribute to the establishment of appropriate training needs. Working closely with operations team the Operations Trainer will participate in the planning process; conduct training to meet corporate standards, conduct post course assessments to ensure learning processes and objectives are met; implement approved new training packages, as well as provide input for changes and/or improvements to existing programs. You will also be expected to promote and maintain good employee/management relations.

Principal Accountabilities:

50% On-the-Floor Training - Administer procedures which ensure effective training of employees, including post course evaluation and follow-up activities. Provide counseling and coaching to current employees, provide direction and recommendations to employees and management staff on further training or remedial action required when training standards are not achieved. Work in partnership with operations and safety department to ensure Job Task Procedures are updated on a regular basis.

20% Needs Analysis - Work in collaboration with clients to identify local training needs, develop and adapt new training programs for local use, participate with leadership team in the planning and implementation process, and make recommendations to the Training Manager/Plant Manager on changes and/or improvements to existing training programs.

20% Programs Administration - Conduct training programs on all aspects of operations including the introduction of changes to processes. Apply knowledge of effective methods of adult learning to provide training solutions that are appropriate to operational needs including traditional classroom training, on the job training, demonstrations and workshops, and ensure that training provided is consistent across all operating shifts.

10% General Administrative Duties - Record and input training information into the training management system ensuring accuracy or records. Auditing training records to ensure training of employees is up-to-date and records are available to supervisors/managers as needed.
 
Required:
 
  • Two year College Diploma in Training and Development, Human Resources Management, or Organizational Development or equivalent or combination of relevant job experience and schooling
  • 5 or more years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment with an understanding of best practices
  • Previous experience presenting training to an operational group
  • Ability to analyze, assess, develop, deliver and facilitate training classes and workshops
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Flexible to work and train on and off shifts as required
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and handle pressure
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Needs to be flexible to rotate shifts
  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
Preferred:
 
  • Post-Secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in one of the following: Training and Development, Human Resources Management, or Organizational Development
  • Adult Education Certification and/or CTDP (Certified Training and Development Professional) will be considered a strong asset
  • 3 or more years relevant experience in a Training and Development position, preferably within a food manufacturing facility
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g., experience preparing sophisticated presentations in PowerPoint for class room delivery)
