Job Description
After Care Program - Addiction CounsellorQuintin Warner House as an opening for a Regular Part-Time Addiction Counsellor in the
After Care Program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To provide addiction counselling through an Aftercare Program with the following responsibilities:
- Develop After Care Plans with clients upon completion/graduation of QWH Program.
- Provide follow-up to clients monitoring progress, setbacks and adjusting plan accordingly.
- Meet weekly with clients one on one to ensure a smooth transition/integration into community.
- Encourage involvement in Alumni Gatherings or meetings.
- Facilitate individual and group sessions to address needs and life skills development.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a diploma or degree program in Social Services, Social Work or Addictions Counselling
- Minimum 3 years experience in Case Management/Addiction Rehabilitation Counselling
- Knowledge of WHMIS, First Aid, CPI
- Suicide Prevention Certificate (a definite asset)
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Valid Driver’s License
- Sound knowledge of techniques is required:crisis intervention, anger diffusion, conflict intervention and resolution, use of chemical dependency diagnostic tools
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons or facts
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of abuse, addiction issues and concurrent disorders
- Self-motivated, self reliant and flexible
- Salary range: S8($19.96 - $23.00 hourly)
- Less than 24 Hour Work Week (flexible work week could include evenings / weekends)
