Position Applying for:  Senior Business Analyst - Marketing
Location:   Support Centre 
Reports to: Senior Manager, Analytics & Inventory Management
 
Key Purpose of the Senior Business Analyst Role
 
The Senior Business Analyst performs an important function within the Merchandising Department.  Using Financial and Management Reporting instruments the Senior Business Analyst’s key role is to analyze and interpret data and to provide sound findings and recommendations to Management. The Senior Business Analyst provides cross-functional support of business-wide efforts to maximize the organization’s profitability.
 
Core Responsibilities of Role
  • Analyze, interpret and amalgamate data from disparate sources, and then translate these data findings into actionable information
  • Identifies problems and recommends solutions (technical, procedural, quality), to management
  • Ensures a high level of accuracy in analyses and reporting
  • Prioritizes workload to accommodate daily rushes and specialty requests
  • Facilitate group trainings & presentations to introduce new tools or methodologies created to manage functional area
  • Develops SOPs and general work instructions and communicate SOP non conformances to management
  • Attendance and preparation of flyer meetings
  • Production of materials required for seasonal planning as related to marketing activities
  • Responsible for maintenance the use of Flyer Flighting & Flyer Grid system
  • Responsible for data validation, review and reporting of data
  • Develops a strong, supportive relationship with the Executive Team as well as Marketing, Inventory & Merchandising personnel.
  • Provides feedback throughout planning processes
  • Interface with Marketing, Merchandising, Inventory and Merchandising Operations to streamline and make efficient use of corporate information
  • Ability to work independently; estimate time required to complete projects; follow up on assignments, and keep appropriate team members up to date and aware of progress
  • Acts as a positive change agent in supporting TSC Stores new initiatives (operational and cultural) and promotes a positive work environment for all associates
  • Provides technical expertise to other analyst through training and mentoring
  • Acts as SuperUser for MRI Data Warehouse reporting application
  • All other responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor/Manager
Qualifications
  • University Degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three to five years’ experience in Business Analytics
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to gather information and translate information into business insights that can be easily understood, utilizing decisions based on facts
  • Strong Excel, VBA & SQL knowledge with an ability to understand database schema's/data models and write complex queries an asset
  • Proven presentation skills and experience facilitating meetings
  • Dynamic, energetic, motivated, positive outlook, with a 'can-do' attitude and be able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent time management, communication, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills
  • Strong sense of urgency & the ability to adapt quickly to a changing environment
  • Knowledge of retail environment and inter-related business units a definite asset
