Job Details

This role will be mission-critical to driving CARPROOF’s success by providing clarity and added-value to our data assets. The Data Ops Analyst will be a self-motivated top-performer, and analytical enough to wade through complex data and make sense of it. The person needs to really understand and be intellectually curious about data, data and data! This includes its source, collection methods, strengths, weaknesses and recommendations for how it should be used and not used in analysis and products. Our department is evolving and requires team members who can adapt to change, produce results under shifting timelines and focus on building the team dynamic through their contributions and continuous learning.

 

This position is based in our London, Ontario head office. Reporting to the Data Operations Manager as part of the Data Management team, they will work closely with team members and members of various departments to increase our data comprehension and maximize its value. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who takes initiative and presents solutions rather than problems, with impeccable written and oral communication skills and advanced analytical abilities.

 

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Be the subject matter expert with a thorough understanding of the data and its creation by asking questions like: 
    • How was the data collected?
    • What does it mean?
    • How do we use it?
    • What can we do to maximize its use?
    • How does it interact with other data?
  • Drive value and quality initiatives related to data used in analytics and production
  • Contribute to the development of a data knowledge center
  • Provide necessary reporting or analyses as requested by other internal departments
  • Raise and resolve issues and mitigate project risks
  • Develop and communicate business cases to support your findings
  • Develop cross-functional relationships to foster collaboration with teams in Product, Marketing and Finance
  • Identify, research and resolve problems to maintain standards of data quality and accuracy
  • Maintain data flow through communication and coordination with stakeholders, IT, management and other external data providers. 

 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience with MS Self-Serve BI solutions - Power BI/Pivot/Query etc.
  • Strong business/data analysis skills required. Advanced SQL Query, and other BI or statistical analysis software such as SPSS, SAS, R, etc. 
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel
  • Understanding and good working knowledge of the software development life cycle and development process. Experience working in an agile environment
  • Proven ability to identify and define business requirements and business rules
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Intermediate understanding of database concepts
  • Experience in business analytics an asset (i.e. Financial valuations, quality assessments)
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
