Summer Student - Accounting Assistant

Mission Services of London has an opening for a post-secondary student during the summer to fill an Accounting Assistant role for a 7-week duration for 30 hours/week.

Qualifications (as stated by Service Canada; Canada Summer Jobs):

• You must be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment

• You must be registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year

• You intend to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year

• You are a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* and;

• You are legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations

• foreign students are not eligible

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Daily data entry of accounts payable invoices in CCIM Microsoft Dynamics GP system

• Administrative tasks such as filing, organizing, verifying authorizations/internal controls

• Assist with reconciliations, reporting and analysis

• Assist with journal entries, prepaids and accruals

• Post daily bank deposits: store sales, credit card donations, cheque and cash donations

   

Qualifications:

• Enrollment in post-secondary institution with a focus on accounting/business

• Returning to school in September

• Work experience balancing cash is an asset

• Intermediate Excel spreadsheet skills

• Introductory accounting courses

• Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy

• Excellent time management skills with ability to meet deadlines

• Act in accordance and harmony with the Mission Statement and Statement of Faith of Mission Services of London

   

  Position Details:

• Position is 30 hours per week (Monday to Friday 9 am to 4 pm) with an unpaid lunch hour

• Mission Services is a Living Wage Employer offering $15.53/hour
