School Age Childcare Coordinator with HR Speciality – Job Posting
The YWCA St. Thomas-Elgin, established over 110 years ago, is a not for profit, social service agency governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.   

Position Summary
The SAC Coordinator is responsible for supervising childcare staff, training, orientation and quality assurance.  They will conduct Human Resource functions for the department and manage broad HR duties for the organization.    

Role and Responsibility
  • Hire and supervise childcare staff.
  • Conduct orientation and professional development workshops.
  • Oversee AODA training and WSIB reports.
  • Ensure high quality program delivery though coaching and mentoring.
  • Conduct site visits, make recommendations and give feedback on behaviour management.
  • Assist with writing policy and procedures.
  • Lead staff meetings and conduct performance appraisals. 
  • Assist with program registrations, site set ups and take downs.
  • Respond to parent inquiries and liaise with school staff. 
  • Oversee timesheet collection and provide on-call support between 6am and 9pm to manage staff absences and fill positions
  • Work as a team within the Childcare department
  • Maintain health and safety standards
  • Utilize and coordinate training through HR downlodas
  • Report serious occurrences to CCLS in absence of SAC Manager
Key Qualifications and Competencies
  • Post secondary education in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Worker, Human Resource Management and /or equivalent training or related experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience.
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Experience with school age program delivery.
  • Experience with Human Resource duties.
  • Advanced communication skills required, both written and oral.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with people in a sensitive, tactful and professional manner at all times.
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.

  • The YWCA offers a competitive compensation package including salary and benefits.
  • Full time position. 35 hours per week.
