Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Be an active contributing member of the plant operations leadership team and lead the plant finance team
  • Supervise and Complete and submit weekly vitals on a timely basis.
  • Support Managers and Supervisors in the analysis of variances as required
  • Support the finance team with the business expertise, insight and coaching on the financials.
  • Manage-Weekly cycle count Finished Goods/Packaging Inventory postings
  • Review Capital Equipment Requisitions (CER’ s) before they are initiated in conjunction with Plant manager and project engineer.
  • Optimize finance applications and transactional databases to provide accurate and timely financial processing and reporting
  • Calculate operational variances from standard and budget on a weekly and monthly basis and Provide explanations for variances to Plant Manager, Production Manager and Finance Manager
  • Supervise the development of the yearly plant budgets especially the yearly overhead budget.
  • Responsible for providing the quarterly EC Call and Latest Estimate Variance forecasts to Finance Manager and Plant Manager.
  • Support and provide leadership to Operations management in the management and control of Inventories
  • Compile test data to ensure accuracy of all standard cost components (meat block, labour, packaging and ingredients)
  • Provide standard cost revisions to Head Office for approval and entry into SAP system that is necessary to maintaining an accurate costing system.
  • Ensure compliance with C3 in relation to Journal entries and GL account reconciliations. Complete month end procedures at the plant level (i.e. Journals, B/S reconciliations)
  • Quarterback the Quarterly C3 Testing and Remediation for Inventory Controls
  • Lead the monthly overhead meeting with the managers at the plant and provide insight as to key drivers of variances.
  • Gather and analyze information for non-costing requests. (i.e. Six Sigma Continuous Improvement & Special projects).
  • Actively build Six Sigma skills by identifying, developing and recommending improvements that will eliminate non-value added work, create efficiencies, uncover cost savings and improve internal controls
  • Responsible for the development of standard operating procedures for Finance processes and cross training of finance team at the plant.
 
 
 

PREFERRED HIRING CRITERIA

  • Minimum 3-5 years of related experience in Costing or Accounting & Manufacturing
  • Post Secondary diploma/degree in Business, Accounting, a related field or equivalent experience
  • Enrollment in a professional accounting designation program (CMA, CGA) an asset-Minimum enrollment at the final level required
  • Excellent PC skills using Microsoft Excel and Word
  • SAP experience an asset
  • Manufacturing/Costing experience an asset
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast pace environment
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to manager multiple projects
  • Strong ability to work within and lead in a team and plant environment
