My client located near London, ON is currently searching for a Senior Mechanical Designer to join their growing team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop mechanical concepts and create mechanical designs in SolidWorks for automation systems, identify, troubleshoot & develop solutions to mechanical build issues
- Present concepts/designs at concept reviews, internal design reviews, and customer design reviews
- Calculating cycle time, estimating design labor, and estimating mechanical purchases
- Identify and research mechanical components for the project to ensure they meet requirements and add into the design
- Develop RFQs for major mechanical system purchases and communicate with suppliers to discuss component specifications, pricing, and lead time
- Create and assemble detailed drawing packages for the build team, with all necessary tolerance/dimensions, bills of materials, and assembly drawings
- Document information for Customer Manuals: As built Drawing package, BOMs, spare parts lists, maintenance items, and OEM documentation
- Participate in rework design on equipment in testing
- Interaction with Project Management team and customer technical contacts to obtain clarification on customer specifications and to obtain customer information/CAD
- Work in conjunction with manufacturing to review drawings confirming accuracy
- Continuous development and implementation of company standards for Mechanical Design
- Weekly meeting with Mechanical Design group to discuss to group initiatives, priorities, workload, address any current issues or inefficiencies within the design group and generate solutions
- Oversee projects and ensure they are completed within budget and timeline provided, communicate project status regularly with PM & Manufacturing Manager
- Identify project requirements and delegate tasks to team according to skillset, ensuring that budget and timeline expectations are clear
- Identify and communicate safety requirements with Systems team
- Supervise and complete internal run offs to verify functionality of machine
- During run offs, identify areas of concern that affect the functional requirements of the machine
- Provide support during installation and guarantee that machine functionality reflects or exceeds pre-install status
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Design
- 5+ years in the automation industry
- Knowledge of custom machine building and processes including vision, laser, assembly, welding, etc.
- Understanding of mechanical purchased components required including how they work, how long they last and specifications to ensure they are sized properly
- Knowledge of mechanical systems and details
- Strong organizing/prioritizing, checking for detail/accuracy
- Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, Epicor, Windows 7+
