Job Description
Our client, an automotive manufacturer in the London/St.Thomas area is looking to add a Maintenance Manager to their team.
Role Purpose: Oversees the installation, repair and upkeep of the property, including machines, presses, mechanical systems, buildings and other structures.Oversees direct reports are following all safety regulations and company policies while effecting repairs of equipment. Support the team with technical knowledge and direction while maintaining the budget with reporting of KPI’s and budget variances.
Role Reports to: Plant Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervises, schedules and directs the activities of all maintenance staff including millwrights, electricians, oilers, and cleaners.
- Oversees plant operating systems such as boilers, compressors, water and electrical supply to maintain plant and reliability of equipment.
- Manage equipment to minimize exposure of risk to the company.
- Manages the functioning of the plant’s preventative maintenance system and makes recommendations to prevent damage/downtime on equipment.
- Liaises with outside contractors and vendors for a variety of maintenance activities such as general facility, etc.
- Researches, secures the services of, and manages outside contractors keeping cost, quality and safety in mind at all times. Occasionally negotiates contractor pricing.
- Administers the collective agreement as it relates to all matters including overtime distribution, discipline, vacations, etc. Ensures that all employees are adhering to the CBA and all company rules/regulations/policies/procedures. Administers disciplinary action when there is a violation of any of the above.
- Creates, maintains and administers the expense budget on a monthly/yearly basis. Is responsible for ensuring all maintenance activities come within the assigned budgetary requirements.
- Manages the time and attendance system for all maintenance employees.
- Supports the implementation of continuous improvement projects
- Works closely with production group to schedule routine maintenance and projects.
- Maintains and determines appropriate levels of spares (MRO) for effective and timely repairs.

- Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma/Certificate in mechanical/electrical Engineering or related equivalent.
- 5-10 years of experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of OHSAS / ISO standards and relevant legislation
