Job Description
2 year contract position
Area of Accountability: Production Engineering, and Production Preparation department.
Major Responsibilities:
- Utilize engineering practices, and principles to optimize process parameters including, cycle time reduction, line balancing, error proofing, welding optimization, and other tools of lean manufacturing.

Observe internal Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify, and initiate opportunities for process improvement.

Creation/set-up of new & existing equipment, spare parts, and engineering documentation.

New equipment projects as directed by Engineering Specialist(s).

Responsible for preparation of cost reduction proposals on production, and maintenance consumables, spare parts.

Supporting of New Model launches, and Engineering Changes (ECI) as required.

Project management, and ability to prioritize tasks will be essential in this fast-paced automotive environment.

Creation of detailed drawings, and documents for various installations using AutoCAD, SolidWorks.

Direct and support Production Engineering Students as required
Minimum Qualifications:
- (4yr) Engineering Degree or (3yr) Engineering Technologist Diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Welding (co-op preferred).
- Experience with automated welding is an asset.
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Familiarity with PLC logic, and automation control in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Strong capability to perform root cause analysis on complex problems.
- Able to coordinate, and lead a project from concept to completion.
- Sound judgment in decision making, and establishing priorities.
- Proactive, and self-motivated with strong initiative to make improvements in systems, and procedures.
- Excellent communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to support overtime as required.
