Position Overview:
The role of the Director, Project Management and Solution Analysis is to establish, implement, develop, and ensure compliance to processes and best practices within the Project Management and Solution Analysis departments.  This role will have managed a team of professionals, including Project Managers, Project Directors and Solution Analysts. The Director will partner with senior Business Unit leaders to deliver consistent programs and is responsible for the strategic and functional day to day operation of the departments.

Core Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Establish and/or adapt, implement and enforce project management and software delivery lifecycle best practices
  • Establish and/or adapt current business analysis methodologies across Business Units
  • Partner with client and delivery partners in project planning, estimating and delivery approach
  • Resolve conflicting project priorities
  • Develop, monitor and manage all projects for best practices and leverage opportunities for improvements
  • Develop best practices, techniques, and tools for maturing the PMO, including project governance, reporting, metrics and ongoing  key performance metrics
Team Management
  • Overall responsibility and management of Managers, Project Directors and Solution Analysts
  • Team coaching, mentoring and individual career development
  • Recruit and hire new team members for both SA and PM departments
  • Complete performance reviews (3 month, annual reviews, performance improvement plans)
  • Create, develop and map training plans for each employee and career development
  • Resourcing strategy – including burst-able capacity development
  • Partner with senior leadership team to drive organizational growth
  • Participate and contribute to operational planning and forecasting;
  • Participate in management meetings
Education, Experience and Competencies:
  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years direct experience in software development environment and minimum 5+ years in employee management
  • Excellent understanding of Project Management and Business Analysis principles
  • Experience in developing and deploying project best practices, policies, procedures, and processes
  • Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously
  • Strong communication skills
  • Self-motivated, directed, and detail-oriented
  • Excellent analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Background in client facing environment is an asset
  • PMP or IIBA certification is an asset
