Job Description

POSITION TITLE:

PT HBA Recruiting Coordinator
3 days/week)

DEPARTMENT:

HBA Program Services

REPORTS TO:

HBA Recruiting Manager (the “Manager”)

DATE:

June 2017

ABOUT THE SCHOOL:

The Ivey Business School (www.ivey.ca) at Western University is widely regarded as Canada’s most prestigious business school and is among the top in the world. Drawing on extensive research and business experience, Ivey equips students with the knowledge and capabilities they need to confidently take on business leadership challenges and opportunities. Ivey offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs as well as Executive Education at campuses in London (Ontario), Toronto and Hong Kong.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:

The primary objective of the HBA Recruiting Coordinator is to assist the Manager and the HBA Recruiting Associate with the execution of recruiting and communications activities. The objective of the HBA Recruiting and Admissions team is to maintain or increase the number of high-quality students applying to and accepting offers from the HBA Program from Canada and abroad.

The incumbent works within a team that integrates all recruiting and admissions activities for the Program, including the Director of Recruiting and Admissions, AEO Admissions Coordinator, HBA Admissions Coordinator, HBA Admissions Assistant Coordinator, HBA Recruiting and Program Assistant, HBA Recruiting Manager and HBA Recruiting Associate and will contribute to the planning and execution of various recruiting events and activities.  The events and activities will be targeted to secondary school students, Ivey AEO students at Western, non-AEO students at Western, and university students at other schools.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

  1. Execute marketing strategies as directed by the Manager with the goal to increase the number and quality of applicants for Ivey AEO status and the HBA Program.
  2. The incumbent will provide assistance to recruiting efforts by conducting presentations at high schools and fairs to promote Ivey and attract prospective students to apply, using key messaging determined by the Director and the HBA Recruiting Manager. Through the high school visits, the incumbent will build relationships within secondary schools, recognizing that these relationships are critical to our efforts. Many schools are scaling back the number and length of scheduled visits by universities and the Program is one of a very few programs that conduct such visits.
  3. The incumbent will also provide admissions criteria/information to prospective and current Western students interested in attending Ivey, as needed. Explaining admissions criteria/information is an integral component of this position as secondary school and university students seek advice on the Program and the prerequisites necessary for consideration for admission. The incumbent will deliver information one on one and in presentations, with various groups inside and outside of the university (including building tours, Summer Academic Orientation, Western Scholars’ event, Intent to Register Fair, Fall Preview Day, March Break Open House, Ontario Universities Fair, application information sessions, Transfer Visit Days, etc.)
  4. Build and maintain a contact list of high-quality candidates from recruiting events and individual inquiries.  Maintain contact database to ensure a consistent flow of communications with applicants and in-coming students.
  5. Provide logistics support for recruiting events and activities, as well as marketing and communications activities as requested by the Manager and the HBA Recruiting Associate.
  6. Provide support for the input, review and reporting of key performance metrics as determined by the Manager.
