POSITION SUMMARY:
To perform the administration of payroll, benefit and pension processes and services. Responsible for weekly payroll processing including master file management, benefit enrolment and hours collection and payment.


This position is up to 6 months.

 

 

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education

  • Minimum 5 years payroll administration experience

     

     

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all duties and promote oneself in a manner that reflects Formet Expectations, Formet’s Visions/Values through Magna’s Employee Charter.

  • Follow and abide by all government, Legal, Magna and Formet rules and regulations.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
  • Safeguard all financial/personnel documents and keep all financial/personnel matters privare and confidential.
  • Establish internal controls as required, and identify and recommend improvements to controls and systems.
  • Overall responsibility to maintain payroll master file by collecting and entering personal payroll data relating to each Team Member.
  • Maintain accurate records of all earnings, deductions, statistics, etc. for each Team Member and preparation of reports on this data.
  • Maintain Team Member benefit master file within Human Resource Information Systems (Ceridian/PeopleSoft).
  • Administration of Team Member Group Benefits program including; medical and dental coverages and insurances such as, Life, AD&D, Critical Illness and Short Term and Long Term Disability plans.

  • Administration of in house paid, Short Term Absence plan.

  • Liaison between the insurance provider, Formet Health Centre and Team Member.

  • Review, edit and report on weekly hours processing for 1200+ hourly and salary Team Members utilizing the Workforce Time & Attendance software program.

  • Preparation of month end billings and reporting.

  • Processing of Family Responsibility and garnishment payments.
  • Weekly payroll reconciliation and reporting.
  • Support Team Members, middle and upper Management questions and requests.
  • Facilitate new hire orientation; provide guidance to new Team Members and assist in the enrolment process of company benefit plans.
  • Assist with internal and external year end reporting requirements.
  • Perform other duties as designated.

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Office and Manufacturing Environments

  • Able to work shift work.

  • Able to be flexible in hours of work in order to meet internal/external customer requirements (scheduled and non-scheduled overtime shifts, etc.)

  • Responsible to adhere to all Health and Safety programs in accordance with the O.H.S.A.

  • Follow and ensure the company’s procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed throughout the plant.

  • Ensure that you work and operate equipment according to Formet’s safety rules and regulations.

  • Active role in maintaining excellent housekeeping through leading by example.

  • Ensure that your department is clean, tidy, organized and a safe workplace at all times.

  • As with Safety, Security is everyone’s responsibility and Formet requires its employees to contribute to this activity by immediately notifying your supervisor when you identify security issues that affect the integrity of our supply chain, in accordance with PIP (Partners in Protection) and C-TPAT (Customs – Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) requirements.
