The graphic designer role is a senior design role on the creative services team. This role provides the opportunity for the right candidate to grow their leadership skills coaching both our junior design team and our extended freelance team.

This role:
- Develops and delivers digital, print and motion graphic creative material
- Builds relationships with key partners and collaborates to build the best product
- Balances creative brilliance with the ability to self manage in an agile environment

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Creative Services Manager, the Graphic Designer will provide design expertise and consulting advice on work that helps create value.

Main Accountabilities:
• Generate ideas and provide the creative flair that will take our Marketing initiatives from good to great
• Provide design consulting advice on how to best execute on the vision of the key initiatives for the business
• Work across customer segments to collaborate and provide design expertise to Digital Benefits Assistant pods executing on an integrated business strategy
• Create exciting and effective marketing materials for use across multiple channels, including video, digital and print
• Take ownership of assigned design projects from end-to-end including consulting, designing, working with digital or print requirements
• Develop relationships with internal stakeholders who support digital/print communications across the company as well as select external vendors
• Support development of digital communications channels, including but not limited to; videos, web materials, html emails, podcasts, mobile & tablet apps and social media tools
• Ensure compliance with Sun Life brand standards
• Research and develop design solutions in accordance with budget limitations and identified project objectives
• Provide design consultation on marketing and communications projects to help the team best meet project objectives while meeting the unique needs of end client audiences
• Continuously identify opportunities to create additional value, proactive with ideas and creative solutions
• Ensure a detailed understanding of project filing and archiving protocols, following agreed conventions at all times

Qualifications
• Sound knowledge of graphic/motion grphic/digital design software and current design trends
• Up-to-date computer software skills including graphic design software in a Mac environment
• Willingness to learn new master programs and technologies as they apply to the position
• Scrupulous attention to detail
• Experience developing digital applications
• Creative thinker with good digital and print design sense
• Solutions-oriented, with demonstrated passion about visual design and marketing
• Strong creative aptitude, with the ability to articulate and rationalize ideas/concepts
• Strong grammar, spelling and proofreading ability
• Strong time management skills

Required qualifications:
• Post-secondary education in graphic design and/or digital design or motion graphics design
• 3 to 5 years of Graphic Design experience in a creative or digital agency or equivalent
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and other design/video software programs in a Mac environment
• Exceptional portfolio that demonstrates video, digital and print executions
