Job Description

Join London Hydro as a Construction Worker within our Engineering & Operations Division. Under the direction of the Construction Supervisor, or designate, you will perform duties relating to the construction and maintenance of London Hydro electrical and building facilities.

JOB DUTIES

Specifically, your duties and responsibilities as a Construction Worker will include:

  • Work in close proximity to high voltage cable and/or equipment.
  • Install electrical underground plant, transformers, slabs, switching enclosures, and Bell and T.V. plant.
  • Install, maintain and rebuild electric maintenance holes, vaults and duct lines.
  • Excavate, erect forms, tie and place steel, pour concrete and lay rough bricks.
  • Operate boom truck, concrete saw and packer and other related construction equipment.
  • Control traffic to ensure traffic flow around work sites.
  • Restore public and private property after work completed.
  • Locate buried hydro cables, pull boxes and other utility plants.
  • Erect shoring.
  • Read blue prints and drawings for Hydro, Bell and T.V.
  • Requisition materials from work orders.
  • Splice service cables.
  • Move furniture and equipment, remove snow, and perform yard and janitorial duties at London Hydro properties.
  • Work with hazardous materials on a regular basis.
  • Work in close proximity to heavy traffic on a regular basis.
  • Work in confined spaces on a regular basis.
  • Work requires heavy physical effort on a regular basis.
  • Adhere to all Occupational Health & Safety Act rules and regulations, the E&USA rule book and London Hydro work practices.
  • Report all injuries and near misses immediately to your Supervisor, or designate.
  • Perform all activities in a manner that protects the health and safety of yourself and others.
  • Wear all personal protective equipment as required.
  • Understand and comply with the London Hydro Environmental, Health and Safety Policy.

QUALIFICATIONS

The qualified Construction Worker we seek will be able to meet the following requirements:

  • Driver's License Class AZ.
  • Ability to obtain Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities Mobile Crane Operator 0-8 Ton Certificate.
