Job Description

A & L Canada Laboratories East Inc. (A & L) is one of Ontario’s largest Agricultural and Environmental laboratories specializing in soil, plant tissue, fertilizer and water testing. A & L provides reliable, comprehensive and effective services for analytical testing. Our Environmental division provides inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, general chemistry and pesticide analysis using state of the art technology and methodology.
 
We are undertaking a new business venture which will further our penetration into the precision Agriculture market through the use of fixed-wing and rotary-wing autonomous aircraft.
 
We require individuals with mechanical and electrical aptitude, manual dexterity and are driven by the desire to learn and opportunity to continually improve processes in a start-up business. The job will entail working with prototypes, composites, assembling airframes, wiring low-voltage DC electronics from drawings and sketches and developing standard operating procedures to ensure that fabrication is robust and repeatable. Technicians may be responsible for testing and validation of electrical, mechanical and power systems, including firmware testing, motor testing and control system and fail-safe checks. 
 
Each employee must fully comply with the quality control program, adhere to all health and safety and lean programs that result in delivering a reliable, quality product on time for high customer satisfaction.
 
Other duties may be assigned based on production and customer service needs.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • A certificate in electrical and/or mechanical assembly from a community college
  • Electrical assembly experience, including PCB assembly, soldering and cable routing
  • Experience with low-voltage DC embedded systems including logic and power circuits
  • Experience with aircraft systems (manned, unmanned or RC) would be an asset
  • Experience with CAD, CAM and PCB design software
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
    Hours of Work
  •  Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm; half hour unpaid lunch break
  • Overtime may be required; some Saturday shifts may also be required
