This role involves working in an open detention and custody facility for male youth aged 12-17.  The successful candidate will have a strong background in residential services for youth and be responsible for providing support with youth bedtime and morning routines and as necessary during the night.  Due to compliance requirements for this location, this position is male bona fide.  Hours of work average 37 hours per week, alternating weekends.

• Able to establish therapeutic relationships on the basis of respect and trust
• Ability/willingness to lead individuals through a process of self-evaluation consistent with Cognitive Behaviour Theory
• Willingness to promote our Corporate philosophy
• Experience supporting individuals with mental health issues, including suicidal ideation
• Ability to write clear, concise observations of behaviour
• Ability to use sound judgment and make independent decisions based on Policies & Procedures
• Proven computer skills, Microsoft Office preferred
• Sound judgment & ability to manage aggressive & complex situations
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem solving skills; attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to work well as part of the team
• A valid Ontario full (G) Driver’s Licence & current Driver’s Abstract, current Police Records Check & Vulnerable Position Screening, Health Assessment, Standard First Aid & CPR Certificate, PMAB Certificate
• Post Secondary education in a related field or equivalent
• A minimum of two (2) years of experience supporting youth with complex and high behaviour needs

Starting Wage:              $17.96 per hour plus 4% vacation pay
