Buyer

On behalf of our client, a global supplier of high precision engine components such as severe-duty and high performance valve train, fuel injection components for heavy equipment within the agricultural, construction, marine, and transportation industries; we are supporting their recruit for an experienced Buyer / Purchaser to join the team.

Buyer Responsibilities:

The buyer reports directly to the Managing director at the Plant Level with a dotted line to the Chief Procurement Officer and would be supporting 2 other individuals in the purchasing department.

  • Directing material from suppliers and subcontractors
  • Equipment, tooling, gages, and tools for production
  • Indirect materials, and utilities
  • Issue and follow up on quotes, support plant with customs documentation
  • Organize and manage all activities related to forecasting, and budgeting
  • Negotiate Freight Rates and coordinate regular freight arrangements

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Mechanical Engineering Education is considered an asset
  • Purchasing or Supply Chain Education is considered an asset
  • Experience with purchasing / buying in the automotive industry
  • Experience with administration of purchasing contracts including terms and pricing
  • Knowledge of product costing and supplier scouting
