Business Services Coordinator


TechAlliance empowers London and Southwestern Ontario’s technology sector. We prepare today’s entrepreneurs to launch new ventures, provide education and networking opportunities to accelerate business growth for small-to-medium enterprises, and serve our 170+ members as advocates for the region’s thriving technology, life sciences and advanced manufacturing companies.

As the Business Services Coordinator, you will work closely with entrepreneurs of start-up and early stage technology companies, administer TechAlliance resources to our client base of companies, and organize community events to assist in the growth of the entrepreneurial community in London and Southwestern Ontario.

Reporting to the Manager of Business Services, you will work with other staff members to support organic growth of companies in London and the surrounding communities.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage the onboarding of new clients, which will include ensuring they are correctly placed in our CRM system, engaging them for a first meeting and setting the engagement standards for their relationship with TechAlliance.
  • Develop online and physical materials to assist entrepreneurs as they develop their business.
  • Provide business analysis to assist clients with development of a business model.
  • Manage communication with active client base, and serve as the main point of contact between clients and the business services team
  • Lead or assist with the planning and execution of the following events: Hacking Health, Proteus Innovation Competition, Business Services Challenge, Demo Days, Start-Up Drinks, and other initiatives as required.
  • Assist with the recruitment of new clients by spearheading relationships with entrepreneurship events and clubs at local universities and colleges while also attending events and workshops throughout the local community in a business development capacity, sometimes outside of regular work hours.
  • Support the development and delivery of startup focused programs for our client base such as MaRS Workshops, Office Hours, and others as needed.
  • Connect startup clients with local resources including, entrepreneurship ecosystem partners, service providers (legal, accounting, web development), and other resources which could help companies accelerate growth.
  • Stay abreast of current developments in various technology industries.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.


Qualifications and Minimum Requirements

- Undergraduate degree in business or related field

- Demonstrated customer service skills

- Strong communication skills, both oral and written

- A good working knowledge of software programs and applications

- Strong organizational and analytical skills

- Impeccable attention to detail

- Ability to provide guidance and direction

- Energy, enthusiasm, and confidence in ones abilities

- Comfortable presenting to groups

Assets
- 2 to 3 years of prior business or technology experience
- Experience having led a startup or worked in a startup environment
- Knowledge of Client Relationship Management (CRM) programs
- Proven ability to assess business opportunities quickly and efficiently
- A technology background
