Job Description

Design Group London is pleased to partner with our client, a custom cabinet builder in the greater London area, seeking an Engineering Design Manager. This is a perm FT opportunity offering a competitive salary and benefits.

Role Overview: 
As the ideal candidate for this role, you will be a strong leader, remain calm under pressure, organize multiple workloads & schedules, interact and work well with various personalities.
You will manage the Engineering Design Department and work as part of a supportive and collaborative team with sales, production & installation to satisfy customers with our quality products.
 
Responsibilities:
Manage the engineering design team to schedule & maintain workloads and department activities which include:
  • Reading and interpreting sales CAD drawings and working with designers to clarify any discrepancies
  • Working closely with production to produce work cut lists & CNC files
  • Develop and prepare final engineering drawings for all projects
  • Lead Design Engineer using Cabinet Vision (knowledge to train others and solve issues when they develop with the CAD software)
  • Prepare and render engineering drawings from initial ideas, sketches, engineering calculations, specifications sheets and other data
  • Final check of design drawings to ensure accuracy before they go to production
  • Prepare construction specifications, costs, and material estimates when required
  • Responsible for ordering custom sheet goods
 
Requirements: 
  • Have proven organizational skills showing superior attention to detail
  • Experience with Design software is essential (Cabinet Vision, AutoCAD, 20/20, CabinetWare or Delta CAD).
  • Three + years' work experience designing interior residential cabinets are a must; managerial experience a definite asset
  • Demonstrate strong leadership tendencies with great interpersonal skills that support team development
     
Education: College or University Degree (Related field not required)
