RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Project coordination, design, programming, commissioning, testing and production support for projects
• Onsite service and trouble shooting
• Occasional facility electrical maintenance
• Engineering & Design
• Specify hardware, bill of material development and purchasing
• Produce electrical schematics in SolidWorks and AutoCAD when required
• Produce drawings for machine plates
• Create, modify and or correct PLC and HMI programs and documentation for machine controls.
• Robot setup, programming and teaching
• Interaction and support with mechanical designers
• Coordination of contractors/vendors when on site for service
• Project commissioning support
• Create and support machine manuals in conjunction with mechanical department
• Aid in purchasing electrical components for machines
• Reduce and maintain department inventory levels as required
• Assist in quoting and estimating as needed
• Check functional operation of machine
• Check I/O, safety circuits, motors
• Debug PLC programs
• Installation management and support
• Onsite equipment support
• Wiring and Maintenance
• Facilitate and repair plant equipment
• Install electrical for new installations if required

 
QUALIFICATIONS:

• Hands-on experience with industry standard controls equipment and components.(A/B, Siemens, Omron, Beckhoff)
• 5 years minimum experience in the automation field, designing and programing automation solutions for a production environment
• Intermediate level experience with robotics (Fanuc and Motoman preferred)
• Ability to work with and communicate effectively with customers and other departments
• Ability to trouble-shoot problems and work within time and budget restrictions
• Valid and insurable Ontario driver licence is a must.
• Travel within the Ontario region will be required.
