As a Senior Instrument Repair Technician, you will be responsible for providing high quality repairs, modifications, and adjustments to surgical instruments and other selected equipment. As a member of the Trudell Technical Services (TTS) team, you will contribute to a professional image of TTS.

THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Senior Instrument Repair Technician, you will be responsible for providing high quality repairs, modifications, and adjustments to surgical instruments and other selected equipment. As a member of the Trudell Technical Services (TTS) team, you will contribute to a professional image of TTS.
Job Details
- Routinely repairs all surgical instruments including micro instruments, mechanical, laparoscopic, rongeurs, and punches
- Oversees the work of other technicians to ensure quality standards are met and provides instruction and feedback when work needs are not met and advises manager when this occurs.
- Polishes, grinds, and sharpens surgical instruments.
- Re-insulates bi-polar instruments
- Red wheeling and bead blasting
- Repairing, cleaning, polishing, refurbishing, bead blasting and dent removal of sterile containers and accessories
- Bone and cutter instrument repair and replacement techniques
- Repair needle holders
- Repair and refurbish micro instruments. Align and file using the magnification process.
- Support color coding process, such as trimming, oakite and burn off
- Instrument cleaning and etching and gold dipping
- Taping of instruments
- Evaluate, adjust, test and/or repair medical equipment
- Welding
- Maintain daily work log
- Clean work area daily
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience
- Post-Secondary education in Mechanical Technology/Technician or equivalent experience.
- A valid driver’s licence.
- Five (5) years’ experience servicing surgical instruments and / or in a metal production environment
- Proven mechanical skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Good time management skills and ability to effectively prioritize.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Solid communication skills.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Ability to travel and work overtime, when required.
