Autodata Solutions is looking for a Junior Linux Administrator for their London, Ontario office.

Position Overview:

We are looking for a Jr. Linux Administrator to participate in the ongoing deployment and support of a large 24/7 data centre in a full-time permanent role.  In this position you will become the Linux subject matter expert with responsibilities encompassing: configuration, installation, preparation of technical project documentation and testing components of system solutions.  We require a multi-flavor (FreeBSD, Redhat, Suse, CentOS) contributor with flexibility to work occasionally on call.  

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer a small uniform site individually and contribute to the administration of a larger system as needed
• Write scripts in several administrative languages (csh, sh, ksh, bash, perl)
• Facilitate basic system administrator tools & processes such as: boot/shut down of Unix system, add/remove user accounts, use backup programs, add a server to a network, administer routing & remote access services, etc
• Navigate Unix operating system, ie understand job control, soft & hard links, distinctions between the kernel & the user environment, etc
• Contribute to the Linux team as required under the general supervision of the Team Lead and Department Manager
• Train users in the application and operating system fundamentals as well as writing basic documentation

Qualifications:

• A degree/diploma in Computer Systems Technology or equivalent work experience
• 1-3 years professional experience with Linux/Unix operating system commands & utilities
• Familiarity with Apache & Tomcat
• Experience with programming in any applicable language
• Flexible hours with the ability to be on-call as required
• Strong interpersonal & communication skills 
• ITIL certification an asset
