Our client located in Simcoe, Ontario is recruiting for a Production Shift Supervisor.

Reporting to the Production Manager this is a progressive position that has the responsibility for supervising shifts and leading/coaching employees within the Production Plant.  Our ideal candidate is a results-oriented professional looking to continue their personal growth while working in an expanding, fast paced dynamic environment that recognizes outstanding performance!!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Accountable for general supervisory coverage for all shifts.  Includes schedule coordination, labour / crewing, safety, quality, site security, and behavioral management
  • Accountable for the productivity of the site during off-shifts
  • Provision of some technical expertise, contacting appropriate resources for issue resolution, providing alternative duties in the event of breakdown or material shortage
  • Monitoring general performance and behavior of employees, and adjusting crewing or call in replacements as necessary
  • Protection of employee’s health and safety by meeting legislative requirements, providing instruction in regard to safety procedures and ensuring compliance of all regulatory and plant safety rules
  • Maintaining good union-management relations by ensuring correct administration of the Collective Agreement and use of a proactive problem solving approach
  • Active participation in leading the rollout of TPM activities to all areas of the facility
  • Facilitate required training programs to employees
  • Regularly cascading/communicating Site targets and goals from the Leadership Team to shift crews, consistently and accurately
 
REQUIREMENTS:
  • A minimum of 2 - 3 years supervisory experience in a unionized food-manufacturing environment is an asset
  • The successful candidate is a “team player” who can also work independently possessing a related University/College degree, preferably in Engineering
  • A working background and knowledge of plant/equipment production and processing methods and procedures (i.e. HACCP, GMP) is required
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, computer literacy and problem solving skills are essential
  • Knowledge and experience of TPM will be considered an asset
  • Fundamental to the success of the candidate in this role will be the need to demonstrate the following Competencies: Strategic Influencing, Developing Self and Others and Change Catalyst
  • This role requires the incumbent to work shifts, including nights and weekends
