Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain a safe and secure environment for all clients, visitors and staff. Appraise potential problem situations quickly and discreetly and effectively diffuse them with the least amount of disruption to work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Secondary School completion or equivalent
- Valid Security License
- One to three years of prior related experience
- Experience working in a social services setting is an asset
- Good organizational skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills
- Crisis intervention skills is an asset
- Demonstrates ability to effectively manage crisis situations
- Working knowledge and experience particular Microsoft Office Word, Excel and database system
- Self-motivated and disciplined
- Understanding of the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army
- First Aid/ CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificate, or willingness to acquire one
- An original copy of a Criminal Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or a local police detachment.
Term: Relief (on-call)
Normal Hours of Work: there are no standard weekly hours of work as a casual/relief
Grade/ Wage: Union – As per collective agreement $12.24
Start Date: ASAP
