JOB SUMMARY:
In collaboration with the Full Day Kindergarten (FDK) Teacher, the Early Childhood Educator (ECE) will plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that reflect an understanding of the continuum of development for 4 and 5 year olds, for the FDK program. Together with the FDK Teacher, the ECE will observe, monitor and assess the development of the children. The successful candidate, along with the FDK Teacher, will promote and maintain a healthy physical, emotional and social learning environment. Responsibilities may also include providing direction to FDK Assistants, maintaining children’s records and providing opportunities for communication with families in the event an extended day program is implemented. The ECE contributes to the programming of the French language learning environment, in collaboration with the FDK Teacher.
 
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:        
Proof of the following qualifications must be included in the online application in order to be considered for this position:
 

• Applicants must possess a two (2) year ECE College or completed ECE Fast Track Diploma with prior completed post-secondary Diploma or equivalent Degree program with a specialization in early childhood studies
• Current registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (Current dated membership card as required as proof of current registration).
• Demonstrated knowledge of the ELECT document
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Ministry of Education’s Full Day Learning Kindergarten Program
• Fluency in oral and written communication in French and English
