Great Lakes Copper Inc. is a privately owned Canadian Controlled Corporation located in London Ontario. We have been in business since 1958 as a fully integrated copper tube mill producing a broad assortment of high quality products, selling in both Canada and United States.
An employment opportunity exists for an Electrician in our Maintenance Department.
The successful applicant will report directly to the Maintenance Foreman. They will be accountable for all phases of electrical repairs and installations and for the safe operating condition of all equipment upon completion of a work assignment.

Experience & Education:
Eligible candidates must hold a valid Province of Ontario or Interprovincial Electrician Licence and have worked in a manufacturing environment for at least five years.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Know, work and adhere to Ontario Hydro Electric Regulations
- Reading and utilizing electrical prints when troubleshooting
- Working in co-operation with other crafts and other departments i.e. Millwrights, Machinists and Production
- Observe and use sound safety Practices at all times
- General - Care and use of hand and power tools and equipment, test instruments. Layout, drilling, threading, bending. Wire and cable pulling
- Electrical Theory - Familiarization with basic theory, D.C. fundamentals, A.C. fundamentals, basic electronics. Applicable codes, standards and regulations
- Prints and Installation Methods - Interpretation and use of electrical drawings
- Conduits, Raceways and Busways: - Installation of rigid conduit, flexible conduit and fittings
- Wire and Cable - Wire and cable pulling, terminating and testing. Installation of extra low voltage wiring, non-metallic sheathed cable
- Insulation - Taping conductors and removing tape
- Storage Batteries - Installation, removal and necessary servicing of primary cells and storage cells
- Test and Measurement - Continuity testing. Measuring voltage, current. Determining phase sequence. Use of test equipment and devices
- Service Control and Protective Devices - Installation of transformers. Fuses. Circuit breakers. Overload devices. Inspection and maintenance
- Conversion - Servicing and repair of motor generator sets
- Illumination - Installation of incandescent and fluorescent lighting. Maintenance and servicing
- Motors and Generators - Installation, wiring and connecting of motors and generators. Lubrication, repair, cleaning and servicing motor and generator components
- Control Devices - Testing, repair, replacement and servicing
- Control Systems - General understanding of Allen Bradley PLC’s (RSLogixs 5000, RSLogixs 5, RSlogixs 500). Communication software and hardware interfaces (RSLinxs, Ethernet, RIO, DH+). Maintaining VFD’s (Allen Bradley, ABB, Parker). New and Old equipment upgrades are ongoing continuously and consist of wiring Electrical panels, Hydraulics, Pneumatic and Electronic field devices
- Preventive Maintenance - Responsible for preventive maintenance of assigned equipment
