Job Description

Senior Bookkeeper
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Bookkeeper is responsible for all aspects of the financial systems and reporting.  The successful applicant will manage the development and compilation of financial statements and will provide useful, accurate and timely information for use by management and the Board of Directors.  This position will also provide administrative support in order to ensure effective and efficient office operations. This is a 20 Hr. per week position.
From its conception in 1898, the London & District Construction Association (LDCA) has brought together contractors, manufacturers, suppliers and many other firms associated with the construction industry.  It is funded and governed entirely by its members and serves to benefit not only the members, but also the entire construction industry.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that accounting related procedures are completed in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles;
  • Maintains association’s accounting functions including accounts receivable and payable, financial statement preparation and analysis,  and bank reconciliations;
  • Prepares and maintains month end financial statements;
  • Supports external organizations including accounting and external communications;
  • Prepare all yearly working papers for external auditor as required;
  • Calculate and record month and year-end adjustments;
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budgets for approval by Board of Directors;
  • Complete payroll processing and updates in a timely and effective manner;
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality about all financial matters and records according to accepted professional and legal standards and practices;
  • Maintain effective lines of communication with Executive Director, Association Employees and the Board of Directors;
  • Contribute in meaningful way to the mission, vision and values of the organization.
 Competencies:
  • Demonstrate experience in bookkeeping, budgeting,  and payroll;
  • High level of competency in Microsoft Office and Sage 50 is mandatory, QuickBooks experience also desirable.
  • Ability to work within team environment focused on collaboration, collegiality, problem solving in order to provide best outcomes for organization and the members it serves;
  • Demonstrated understanding of and attention to high degree of accuracy and ability to perform detailed calculations;
  • Formal post-secondary education in accounting
  • Minimum 4 to 6 years of experience;
