Robot / PLC Programmer

Randstad is currently searching for a Robot Programmer with advanced knowledge in how to create and develop advanced robotic technologies, concepts and designs for automated machines within the automotive industry. As a company they are continually researching new and innovative technologies to assist with future applications and are seeking like-minded individuals who are passionate about automation to join their fast growing team.

Programmer Responsibilities:

  • Develop creative robotic solutions to accomplish specific application types and implement changes to optimize the system (e.g. Collaborative, Sealant/Dispensing, Laser, Material Handling, etc.)
  • Critique and verify functional requirements are clear for assigned projects, identifying potential concept issues, design resolution guidelines and give status of system responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Project Manager for resolutions related to technical challenges that affect projects
  • Create robot simulations as part of the design process
  • Analyze new robotic applications in assistance to the applications engineering team and provide concepts, functional requirements, and direction
  • Analyze system specifications for purchased systems or potential purchases on applicability of function and method of integration
  • Test quotes systems in conjunction with the Applications Group to ensure concepts are achievable
  • Design, program and tune-up robots once designed simulation is loaded
  • Create, configure, and test all robot safety features including but not limited to Software based safety zoning for machine and operator safety
  • Work with employees to complete PLC programming to develop integration
  • Perform testing of robots and processes to determine if performance meets functional requirements, safety and ergonomic standards
  • Participation in implementation of SOP’s for Robotic Systems Group
  • Collaborate with group to discuss group initiatives, priorities, workload, address any current issues or inefficiencies within the group and generate solutions
  • Mentor engineers of varying experience in automation integration and be a technical resource

Programmer Experience:

  • Engineering Degree or Diploma in Programming and / or sufficient industry experience
  • 4+ years’ direct experience in automation/custom machine build field
  • Experience at a supervisory or lead level
  • Computer Expertise: Microsoft Office, Epicor, SolidWorks
  • PLC & HMI Programming, Roboguide, Windows 7+
  • Knowledge of various robot applications i.e. Spot Weld, MIG, TIG, Laser etc.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Epicor, Roboguide and base knowledge in SolidWorks
  • Knowledge of Fanuc, Motoman, ABB, Kuka robots
  • Understanding of robot integration and safety features and custom machine building process
  • Ability to create and design and troubleshoot a robot program, not just maintain / troubleshoot
  • Knowledge of welding specifications & weld controllers (Spot, MIG, TIG, Laser, etc.)
