We are hiring Production Supervisors in our St. Thomas, ON location!

  • Must be willing to work full-time hours on straight shifts.

  • Shifts is Afternoons (Monday to Thursday, 3:30pm -1:30am)

What You Will Do:

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and advising personnel on safe work practices to meet Safety and 5S targets

  • Meet quality targets through the participation and leading improvements in all aspects of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost through the use of daily management, various Quality and Lean tools, and Process Problem Solving

  • Execute the Manufacturing Plan - Complete production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel to meet Schedule Attainment and Past Due Targets, running to priority list and customer demand

  • Maintain effective costs control to meet departmental budgets, labour, productivity targets and workforce requirements

  • Participate in Lean Glass house and COQ to meet TCP targets

  • Resolve personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action

  • Communicate monthly Safety Talks as assigned by the Health and Safety Department

  • Communicate changes to the hourly employees regarding policies and procedures

  • Coordinate time / attendance, vacation bookings and leave of absences for the dept hourly employees

  • Develop and supervise employee training through the use of work instructions and trainer checklists

  • Enter employee hours for payroll

  • Print employee audits to verify hours and check audit from payroll for accuracy

  • Verify production entries through audits printed daily

  • Responsible for employee training (new hires and cross-training in the department)

  • Troubleshoot any issues that are brought up in the daily running of the department

  • Implement ergonomic improvements where possible - Identifying processes that may cause injury to employees and looking for new, user-friendly ways for operators to assemble

  • Conduct new employee evaluations during the probationary period

  • Maintain supplies for department (expense items)

  • Administration of Collective Agreement including discipline and documentation of issues

  • Participate in the ongoing continuous improvement of procedures and processes

  • Maintains and lead standards of behaviour within the context of Masco Canada’s conduct guidelines

  • Prepare and present reports to team members and management as required

  • Direct (reporting directly to this position):  ≈ 30

 

Who You Are:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing, preferably in a lean environment

  • Emergency First Aid/CPR and AED Certification

  • Knowledge of quality and compliance standards

  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment and/or services ordering, as well as inventory control of these items

  • Product knowledge

  • Digital literacy is required

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Proven leadership ability

  • Technical proficiency a definite asset

  • Must be able to work bi-weekly rotating shifts, day, and afternoons

  • Proven ability to lead and empower workforce in a unionized environment

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • O.S.S.D or equivalent

  • Industrial Management Certificate or equivalent
