POSITION TITLE: Accounting Assistant

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
To support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and other general Accounting functions for the Ivey Business School at Western University (RISB) and the Richard Ivey School of Business Foundation (RISBF).  To ensure that expense claims, vendor payments, research reports, monthly journals and bank reconciliations are completed in a timely and accurate manner. Provide general administrative support to the Senior Director of Finance and Facilities and the Accounting Manager.

KEY RESULTS AREAS:
1. Timely and accurate processing of approved RISB and RISBF expense reports, RISBF vendor payments, and maintaining good relationships with suppliers and Western Finance.
2. Assist with the processing of RISB and RISBF vendor invoices, prepare vendor payments for RISBF, and assist with RISB purchase requisitions, verifying accuracy and approvals.
3. Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for RISBF; prepare RISB and RISBF general journal entries and assist with balance sheet account reconciliation reports for both month end and year end for RISB Foundation and RISB Asia;
4. Prepare bank deposits and provide support to and act as backup for Accounts Receivable Administrator and Accounts Payable Administrator as required.
5. Assist with research statements and miscellaneous duties, to support the Accounting Manager or Senior Director of Finance, as required
6. Provide general administrative support to the Senior Director of Finance and Facilities and Accounting Manager.
 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
 
  1. Post-secondary diploma in Accounting required; University degree in Accounting preferred.
  2. Minimum 2 years’ experience in a computerized accounting function.
  3. Advanced computer skills – MS Office, accounting software.
  4. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  5. Strong problem-solving skills.
  6. Proven ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and follow directions.
  7. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  8. Demonstrated track record working in a team.
  9. Excellent customer service skills.
  10. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
