Talentcor London is recruiting for our client, a leader in the Oil and Gas sector, a Financial Analyst to join their Sarnia, Ontario team on a contract basis.  The estimated duration of this contract assignment is 6 months with the possibility of extension based on business conditions. 
 
Position Summary:

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the successful candidate will provide financial reporting support, as well as assisting in the preparation, review and analysis of monthly financial results, including variance analysis of actual vs. budget/forecast.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with Finance and Administration processes, policies, and procedures related to the area of responsibility
• Update of various work sheets (Project/Overhead Summary) in order to prepare monthly financial statements
• Review and analyze result including actual to budget/forecast variances
• Review consolidation of joint venture’s monthly financial statements
• Assist with Internal and external audits
• Prepare journal entries, as required
• Prepare Financial Highlights for meeting Corporate reporting needs
• Administer backlog booking of Revenue/GMAF
• Retrieve various month-end reports in order to verify data integrity and prepare consolidated reports
• Liaise with various offices, provide support and respond to inquiries
• Reconcile Income Statement and Balance Sheets between Legal to Management, any variances are investigated and corrected through journal entries
• Assist in reviewing month-end G/L account analysis
• Prepare documents as requested by Head Office
• Undertake specific tasks as required that are commensurate with the position
• Actively participate in identifying areas of improvement and recommending solutions
• Ensure risks relating to contingencies/warranties are well defined

 
Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s  Degree in Accounting/Finance required
• CGA/CPA designation an asset
• Minimum of 2-3 years experience relevant accounting experience, preferably in the oil & gas industry
• Previous experience in an engineering environment preferred
