PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:

To identify, cultivate and solicit major gifts from corporations to support the School’s development priorities. To manage the corporate giving program, including identification, cultivation, and stewardship of corporate major gifts, annual gifts, and sponsorships.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

1.  Manage a portfolio of Ivey’s corporate major gift prospects by developing and executing successful solicitation strategies in pursuit of projected gift targets. 

2.   Assume primary responsibility for identifying, cultivating and soliciting corporate major gift prospects, both individually and/or in collaboration with the Dean, Associate Deans, Executive Director of Advancement, Director of Development, senior faculty and campaign volunteers. 

3.   Research and analyze the giving potential and propensity of corporate major gift prospects.

4.   In partnership with the Associate Director, Stewardship, develop customized annual stewardship plans as appropriate for assigned major gift donors.

5.   Collaborate with appropriate School administrative officers and faculty in identifying attractive opportunities for donor investment and fashion presentations and/or proposals to secure support for these investments. 

6.   Visit with an assigned group of potential corporate major gift prospects to assess their capacity and/or inclination to provide financial support at the major gift level and, based on this assessment, determine the level and priority of attention they should be accorded in the School’s overall major gift planning scheme. 

7.   Develop and implement annual plan for promoting and securing corporate gifts.

8.   Manage and support the corporate sponsorship of key school activities including Business Leader Dinner and Global Ivey Day. Lead the development of sales lists, sponsorship packages, coordinate and support volunteer activities, and oversee receipting process. Act as a liaison and resource for other units within Ivey engaged in soliciting sponsorship funding.

9.   Participate in and contribute to the formulation of School development planning, particularly as it pertains to the processes and procedures of prospect management and related infrastructure support services, e.g., information and records, prospect research, gift administration practices, stewardship, etc. as well as project management of key funding priorities.
 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

The incumbent should possess a university degree, plus 3 to 5 years experience in fundraising work or related experience in sales, marketing, business development or customer relations. 

The incumbent must also possess:

  • exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire confidence and trust in alumni, friends and corporate and foundation stakeholders
  • superior listening skills and the ability to interpret the concerns and interests of potential stakeholders and translate them into attractive opportunities for investment in the School’s development priorities
  • ability to organize and manage a diverse range of assignments and projects with high efficiency, yet thorough attention to detail and follow through
  • strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Resourceful and independent, but comfortable working within the framework of an integrated development program and team-oriented environment
  • basic familiarity and appreciation of the mission, purpose and values of a comprehensive university and, more particularly, a teaching business school and its responsiveness to the educational and research requirements of a sophisticated international business community

This is a 2 year renewable contract position with full benefits.
