Job Description

Summary of Duties

Reports to the Managing Director, City Planning & City Planner. Responsible for developing and maintaining London’s Smart City Strategy and creating plans, policies, and programs to implement it. Provides leadership and directs the work of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals. 
 
Fosters a culture of smart city thinking within the Corporation of the City of London; explores opportunities to deliver City services more efficiently and effectively through business value-driven initiatives; develops partnerships with members of the private sector, utilities, educational institutions and others within the London community; facilitates the development of innovation and smart city initiatives to achieve economic, environmental and social benefits for London. 
 
Promotes the City of London as a Smart City that fosters creativity, innovation and partnerships. Collaborates with other service areas within the Corporation, and organizations and individuals within the community, to facilitate smart city initiatives.

Qualifications/Experience
 
  • Bachelors Degree in Planning, Computer Science, Engineering, Science or other technology-related discipline with courses relevant to smart city planning and implementation.
  • Minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in related work.  Well qualified individuals with less experience may also be considered.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience managing people, processes, ideation and implementation.
  • Project management experience. Project Management Professional designation is an asset.

Specialized Training and Licenses
 
  • Advanced leadership skills and demonstrated ability to lead ideation and innovative processes.  
  • Demonstrated change management and project management skills.
  • Ability to develop, implement and advance plans and strategies; demonstrated ability to strategically inspire and motivate others.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead effective community engagement initiatives and mobilize/inspire community.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; experience in report writing and drafting policies for the purposes of smart city implementation.
  • Business analysis and business planning skills.
  • Knowledge of smart city technology and initiatives. 
  • Knowledge of existing and emergent information and communication technology infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of data collection, data storage, data analytics and data distribution techniques that support a smart city.
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills to promote cooperation and collaboration both within and external to the organization.

Permanent - Full Time

Compensation Range

$94,762 to $128,935
