Job Description
Reporting to the Marketing Manager at our Head Office location, the Community Connections Coordinator assists in the promotion of West 5, acting as the primary representative of the West 5 Discovery Centre, planning and coordinating community events and overseeing community outreach. This includes the development, planning and delivery of in-house and external programs designed to promote West 5, increase community awareness, educate the public and draw people to visit West 5.

Responsibilities Include:• Oversee and manage the day to day operation of the Discovery Centre, including welcoming visitors, coordinating tours and overseeing and maintaining the exhibits.
• Track Discovery Centre performance and establish goals for the program as the community evolves.
• Capture customer leads and directly communicate with potential customers to provide requested information for Discovery Centre tours, community events, or general community inquiries. Plan and deliver events, liaising with internal and external resources as required, producing a monthly community outreach and event calendar in collaboration with the marketing team.
• Pursue and develop relationships with community partners, schools, associations and other organizations to promote West 5 as a community destination and education opportunity.
• Conduct market research, monitoring consumer trends in relation to SMART technology, sustainable living and environmentally-conscious living, and recommend the use of new tools, tactics and emerging trends to be used in the promotion of West 5. Participate in off-site events, shows or community events that will increase awareness of West 5 and encourage people to visit the community.
Experience & Qualifications:
• 1-3 years’ experience coordinating community outreach, managing events and a variety of recreational programs. Diploma in recreation, marketing/sales or related field is preferred.
• Must be a people person with the ability to understand and explain new technologies and demonstrate a genuine interest in sustainable living and leading-edge technology. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and working knowledge of social medial platforms is required.
• Proven sales, customer service and organizational skills, with excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to interact well with all site visitors.
• Must be flexible to work evenings and weekends and variable hours of work, possess a valid drivers’ license and reliable vehicle and be able to travel locally.
