The Access Centre for Regulated Employment

 

A partnership project of WIL Employment Connections, the Access Centre for Regulated Employment provides customized licensure, certification services, referral services, and career development assistance to internationally trained individuals seeking commensurate employment. We are currently inviting applications for a six month contract to Dec.31, 2017 (with possible extension) for the following position:

 

Employment Counsellor

 

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Employment Counsellor is responsible for assisting internationally trained individuals with applications for licensure or trade certification and employment in Ontario’s regulated professions.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provision of timely access to employment assessment, credential review, application assistance and case management for internationally trained individuals seeking licensure/certification and professional employment in Ontario;
  • Development of personalized Work Plans for clients seeking licensure or certification;
  • Identification, advocacy and referral to appropriate community resources to assist individuals in meeting their employment goals in either commensurate or alternative professional employment;
  • Maintenance of records, delivery of contracted reports and timely follow-ups with all clients;
  • Outreach presentation and group work;
  • Team and committee participation

 

The Successful Candidate will possess:

  • Post-secondary education with emphasis in human services and/or employment counselling;
  • Experience in the field of employment counselling for internationally trained individuals seeking to become successfully employed in Canada;
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills and technical ability;
  • An understanding of case management and the ability to utilize advanced computerized data management software;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the local and regional labour market;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of local and regional employment, education and training resources available for internationally trained individuals;
  • Knowledge of Ontario’s regulatory and trade certification processes;
  • Ability to effectively contribute to a team environment;
  • Outreach presentation and group work experience;
  • Demonstrated time management and data management skills
