We are currently looking for a Business Analyst to join our Business Intelligence Team.  We are highly focused on analytics in both investment and collection activities.  As such, this is a critical role within our organization.    
 
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director, Business Intelligence and Investments, this role will assist in conducting financial analysis projects and in defining relevant information.  The Business Analyst will also be responsible for extracting data from the collection management database to prepare detailed reports used for forecasting, trending, and results analysis.  He/she will analyze reports to provide observations and recommendations and will be responsible for the creation and distribution of both routine and new internal reports in a timely and accurate fashion.  Utilizing advanced Excel knowledge and relying on instructions and pre-established guidelines this role will be in charge of the improvement of the report generation process. This individual will work under moderate supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produce daily, weekly, and monthly internal reports with a strong degree of accuracy and consistency for use in decision-making by internal management team
  • Prepare analysis and recommendations based on reports produced, identifying adverse trends and corrective actions
  • Develop and test new reports and analysis for internal use, ensuring information presented is of a high degree of consistency with all other reports
  • Draft summary analysis of trends seen/developing within the internal reports for review, initiate investigation into matters identified, and assist in finalizing reports to senior management
  • Compile and prepare data to assist in revising monthly financial targets and budgets
  • Provide backup to Chief Investment Specialist, including the production of detailed stratifications based on seller evaluation files in order to meaningfully organize, summarize, and compare debt information for use in decision making by internal and external senior management teams
  • Generate monthly liquidation reports to update and reflect the status of all debt purchases
  • Accurately produce standard reports in a timely fashion on a pre-established schedule
  • Recommend changes to improve processes in report generation
  • Take on ad hoc projects as required
  • Additional duties as requested by management
Education/Experience Required:
  • 4 Year Degree in Business, Economics or Statistics/Mathematics
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of financial principles
  • 2-5 years work experience as an analyst is preferred
Additional Skills Required:
  • Familiarity with Microsoft products
  • Advanced level Excel skills
  • Familiarity with SQL
  • Familiarity with SAS Enterprise Guide or Enterprise Miner (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of databases
  • Familiarity with statistical modelling (preferred)
  • Strong organizational ability
  • Ability to present complicated ideas and materials to a diverse group
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Effective analytical skills
