                                     Coordinator, Institutional Events

SUMMARY

The Coordinator, Institutional Events works collaboratively with the Events & Conferences department and stakeholders across the institution to execute meaningful events that take place on-campus, virtually, and off-campus as required. Reporting to the Manager, Events & Conferences, this role engages with senior level stakeholders, alumni, institutional partners, and corporations for events that promote and highlight Huron’s brand.

Specifically, the incumbent will be responsible for planning significant institutional events including, but not limited to, First Year Commencement, Scholarships and Awards Day, Homecoming, Founders Day and Convocations. In addition to supporting other signature events at Huron.

The Coordinator, Institutional Events will work collaboratively with the Marketing and Communications department to ensure all events are promoted through invitations (digital and physical) and social media. The Coordinator will also work with Huron’s staff and faculty as required to ensure that the events are successful and showcase Huron’s brand positively.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Undergraduate degree or college diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ related work experience in a fast paced, events coordination/support role, preferably in a post-secondary or educational setting
  • Knowledge of the post-secondary organizational structures and operations.
  • Experience planning, coordinating, and executing large scale events and activities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Zoom Meetings and Webinars, and JotForms software.
  • Excellent time management skills and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks / deadlines and accurately complete work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and ability to interact positively with event attendees, high profile guests, Huron alumni and potential donors.
  • Demonstrated judgement and problem-solving capabilities with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the mission of Huron.
