Job Description
SCOPE: Provide senior level financial analysis to support the ongoing business operations of the Woodstock and London plants. Also, responsible for preparing and analyzing the financial results of our operations and accounting for fixed assets.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Manage all aspects of Fixed Assets & Customer Tooling Accounting:
Full accounting responsibilities for reporting capital spending, maintaining the fixed asset sub-ledger, analyzing spending variances to budget, dealing with asset taxation issues, and ensuring the accurate valuation and accounting treatment of all fixed assets. Prepare and analyze customer-tooling accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and with customer contracts. Perform a capital inventory annually.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare, analyze and interpret financial statements and reports within tight deadlines.
Assist with ongoing forecasts and annual budget preparation.
Have an in-depth understanding of financial transactions and information systems to ensure the accuracy of our financial reporting. Ensure financial statements are fully compliant with current GAAP.
Financial Analysis & Internal Auditing:
Review account analysis prepared by junior and intermediate staff.
Provide regular analysis of financial and operational results. Provide answers & advice to production and administrative managers on a wide variety of issues.
Gather & Analyze data to assist in preparing customer quotes.
Review all accounting processes and test the operation of these processes to ensure compliance with internal control & company procedures.
Identify any control weaknesses and formulate actions plans or new policies to remedy any deficiencies.
Coordinate the Month End Process:
Coordinate all aspects of the month end process to ensure we meet all our tight reporting deadlines. Prepare journal entries and analysis.
Coordinate journal entries made by other staff to assess our ability to meet the deadline during the month end process. Prepare and distribute preliminary financial results and analyze to ensure accuracy. Review select account analysis prepared during month end. When the month end is closed, make final journal entries for income tax and prepare and distribute final statements and reports.
Coordinate the Year End Process:
Includes the same as above but has increased responsibilities with even greater emphasis on ensuring financial reporting accuracy (especially related to accounting estimates). Additional journal entries and reports are required and ALL balance sheet accounts must be viewed and analyzed before the close process is complete.
Coordinate All Internal and External Audits:
Prepare any working papers and schedules required by auditors and coordinate the collection of such schedules prepared by other accounting staff in a timely manner.
Assist with preparing Annual Financial Statements & Income Taxes:
Prepare schedules and analysis of financial information that will be used to create our annual audited external financial statements, including the notes to financial statements.
Gather and analyze the information required to complete our income tax working papers and/or tax returns.

EDUCATION:

College Diploma or University degree in accounting/business

Enrolment at a senior level accounting program (CPA)

3 or more years of progressive accounting experience in a similar role (preferably in a high-volume manufacturing environment).
