RETAIL FLOORING SALES AND DESIGN CONSULTANT

Flatout Flooring is a family-owned and operated flooring company based in London, Ontario. Flatout has been in business for over 13 years and are a leader in both the residential and commercial flooring industry with multiple projects ongoing across Canada. We are looking for a full time Retail Flooring Sales and Design Consultant to become a part of our growing team.

About the Position:

As a Retail Flooring Sales and Design Consultant, you will work closely with customers to determine their needs, answer questions about our products and services and recommend the right solutions for their individual or corporate needs. Whether the interaction occurs in our showroom or in the customer’s home or their workplace, the objective is always to provide both design and flooring advice that will make the customer’s buying decision easier.

Job Summary:

• Welcome customers to the retail showroom and answer their questions about specific products and services
• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales and service
• Provide accurate information on product features and pricing and after-sales services
• Remain up-to-date and knowledgeable on products offered and discuss available options
• Perform in-home consultations and measurements
• Create job quotations
• Order products and manage inventory
• Work with management on project scheduling
• Respond to, address and solve customer complaints in a timely and effective manner
• Maintain showroom presentation and overall cleanliness (displays, samples, etc.)

Qualifications:

• Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices.
• Experience within the flooring industry is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate to fit our growing team. An Interior Design Certificate would be of great value.
• Must have a valid driver’s license to perform in-home client consultations. Company vehicle provided during work hours.
• Ability to work the following showroom/office hours Mon-Fri 10:00am – 6:00pm with scheduling required for after hours appointments and in-home consultations as needed.
• Knowledge in mathematics, able to take dimensions of areas and accurately determine the square footage and flooring requirements
• Must have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and be willing to learn our operating system
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong listening ability
• Enthusiastic, friendly and energetic with a genuine desire to provide outstanding service
• Excellent relationship-building skills and ability to work well with customers, peers and management
• Self-motivated and internally driven to excel in your position and career
• Time management skills for juggling multiple (and sometimes competing) deadlines and deliverables
• Ability to multi-task, while being attentive to customers and remaining flexible to the needs of the business
