Assistant Resource Centre – Summer Student
 
The Community Mental Health Programs, of Mission Services of London, has an opening for a 9-week contract position as Assistant Community Support Worker within the Resource Centre.  This position will report to the Program Coordinator.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
To work alongside the Resource Centre staff members to provide psychosocial rehabilitation support and recovery based programming for adults who may be homeless, experience mental health and addiction or concurrent disorder issues.  To assist in providing individual and group sessions and Life Skills coaching.
 
Qualifications (as stated by Service Canada; Canada Summer Jobs):

• You must be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
• You must be registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year
• You intend to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year
• You are a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* and;
• You are legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations
• * foreign students are not eligible

 
Additional Requirements

• This position requires that the individual will have excellent oral and written/computer communication skills.
• Further, this is a team environment and therefore the successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, proactive crisis intervention and problem solving skills.
• Current First Aid-CPR and CPI certification would be an assetPosition Details

• Salary: $11.25/hour
• 30 hours per week (flexible daytime hours Monday to Friday)
• Contract to run for 9 weeks from start date (to be negotiated)
