Engineering currently has an opening for an intermediate level Engineer/Technologist in the Ballast Water Treatment Product Development/Product Team.

Engineering currently has an opening for an intermediate level Engineer/Technologist in the Ballast Water Treatment Product Development/Product Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, analyze, and implement innovative, cost effective design solutions for Ballast water treatment systems
- Perform analytical calculation in the field of applied mechanics, strength of materials, fluid mechanics, and tolerance stack-up to ensure integrity of design solution
- Carry out assignments of substantial variety and/or complexity requiring a sound understanding of related engineering or scientific theory, principles and practices.
- Design prototypes of product concepts and test fixtures from sketches, drawings, detailed specifications and verbal instructions
- Formulate concept improvements based on test results
- Participate in in-house testing and field testing
- Produce professional and comprehensive reports on independent investigations
- Participate in design reviews to offer data and recommendations from tests performed
- Implement final design through the organization, working with other functional areas such as Manufacturing Operations, Service, and Marketing
- Work as an integrated product development team
- Provide technical guidance to other engineering associates in area of expertise
- Ability to travel internationally and sea travel on commercial vessels
Background and Skill
- Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering Technology
- Intermediate level Mechanical Engineer with 5+ years of related field experience
- Ability to work both independently and as a productive member of a team
- Proven working knowledge and experience of mechanical design
- Proficient in using Solidworks CAD software and strong computer skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent documentation skills - ability to maintain a clear project file
- Able to use initiative and good judgment in the application of standard procedures
