Job Description

The London Children’s Museum is a special place for children and their grown-ups to play and learn together. It is filled with hands-on, interactive exhibits that encourage children from infancy to twelve years old to explore and discover science, arts, heritage and more!
 
Position Description: Reporting to the Education Manager and Education Specialist, the Visitor Experiences Associate is responsible for providing extraordinary customer service to our visitors. This role will deliver public programming, including demonstrations and facilitating birthday parties, at the Children’s Museum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide and model extraordinary service to all Children’s Museum visitors and guests
  • Deliver high-quality, fun and educational Children’s Museum programs including birthday parties, demonstrations, school programs, special events and outreach activities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of programs as required
  • Assist with Children’s Museum Day Camps, as needed
  • Care for the Children’s Museum facilities and galleries through tidying, restocking supplies and other duties
  • Work with the Children’s Museum team to assist in training, support and supervision of volunteers
  • Accept other duties as assigned

  • Computer proficiency
  • Interest and knowledge of science, history and the arts
  • Demonstrated commitment to pursuing a career in a child-related field
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a safe and effective manner
Position Requirements
  • Child & Infant First Aid and CPR training
  • Valid police check
  • Between the ages of 15 and 30 years of age at start of employment (June 1, 2015)
  • A full-time student (secondary or post-secondary) in the previous year (2014/2015)
  • Intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year (2015/2016)
  • Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the immigration and refugee protection act
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial legislation and regulations
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and some Friday nights
  • Bilingualism an asset
 
Education: Enrolled in secondary or post-secondary education.
 
Compensation: $11.25/hour, 37.5 hours per week
 
Start date: June 1, 2015
End date: September 7, 2015
