GENERAL INFORMATION:
Are you passionate about creating a safety-focused work environment? We are a manufacturer of automotive parts in the London, ON region and are seeking a qualified candidate to fulfil the roles and responsibilities pertaining to all facets and functions of Health and Safety. We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable about H&S legislation and who can work independently to build and maintain appropriate programs, policies and documentation. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in a health and safety focused role, including experience in a manufacturing environment.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES / PURPOSE:
Reporting directly to the Manager of Human Resources Manager, the successful candidate will maintain and continually develop the Health and Safety program and provide functional and specialized support to all Associates and Management in all aspects of Occupational Health and Safety. The candidate will ensure that all work activities and operations within the facility comply with all regulatory requirements, Health & Safety guidelines, and conforms to the main targets of the company. Responsibility will also entail continual improvement in the safety performance that contributes to the overall success of the business.

SAFETY RELATED JOB DUTIES:
- Respond to all Health and Safety related inquiries from both Associates and Management
- Ensures all Occupational Health and Safety legislative requirements are continually met
- Develops and advises with implementation of Health and Safety related policies and procedures and ensures Associate understanding
- Assists in safety related training activities
- Champions the JHSC function, including meetings, investigations, continuous improvement activities, etc.
- Overseas the WSIB / Early Safe Return To Work program and manages modified work activities
- Acts as the Safety Representative for all MOL visits, orders, work refusals, etc.
- Champions and develops the company’s ISO 14001 program and related systems for the facility
- Implements and continuously develops the Health and Safety program at the facility (including management of Contractor, First Aid, etc.)
- Leads the incident investigation process, including root cause analysis and identification of corrective action plans
- Participates and assists in post incident / accident investigations, communicates findings to all involved
- Conducts hazard and risk assessments of the facility and implements resolution activities
- Holds MGT accountable for managing safety risks and hazards in the facility.
- Encourages communication, consultation & collaboration with employees, customers, suppliers, contractors and public stakeholders
- Reports out daily on health and safety initiatives, concerns, incidents, etc.
- Delivers monthly reports and updates and continuously works with Management to ensure all Health and Safety related information is effectively communicated
- Develops and makes recommendations for Health and Safety goals and objectives
- Stays abreast of all
- Other duties as assigned and required
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Post-Secondary Diploma / Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent
EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5 years experience working in a Health and Safety / HR Generalist role within a manufacturing environment, preferable automotive
- Understanding of all applicable legislation related to all facets of Health and Safety functions is essential
- Strong experience related to legislation including Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety Insurance Act, Employment Standards Act, etc.
- Strong initiative skills with an ability to multi-task to handle multiple priorities
- Experience working in a team / self starter with excellent language and communication skills, who pays attention to accuracy and detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required with an ability to communicate to a group
- Must possess excellent time management and organizational skills to provide support in an effective and efficient manner
