Job Summary
 
Installs, modifies, and makes repairs to server and personal computer hardware and software systems, and provides technical assistance and training to system users.  Researches and recommends enhancements or replacements for various hardware and software services.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 
  • Maintain stable operations of AS400 hardware and software
  • Monitor systems to verify correct systems operation (backups, necessary jobs running, etc.)
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance tasks as required
  • Ability to troubleshoot and rectify discrepancies and issues relating to production use of the AS400 and CMS software
  • Research, recommend and implement changes to system as necessary
  • Previous automotive experience and firm understanding of the manufacturing process
  • Thorough understanding of CMS modules (Inventory, Purchasing, Production and Reporting)
  • Barcode administration, ability to create and modify barcodes
  • Document process and recommend and implement improvements or changes
  • EDI experience, preferred experience with TrustedLink for Windows
  • Experience in ERP system upgrades or deployments
  • Provide updates, status, and completion information to manager, problem request tracking system, and/or users, via voice mail, e-mail, or in person communication
  • Work with external service providers as required
  • Responsible for Kaizen and 5S Activities
Job Qualifications
 
Education
  • Diploma/Degree from College or University; and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
 
Computer Skills
  • Proficient in RPG IV, Labelview 8, SQL
  • Detailed understanding of CMS Software
  • Familiarity with other hardware and software, including iSeries, email (Domino), and monitoring tools (Nagios)

Physical Effort and Requirements of this Position
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and use hands. The employee is occasionally required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Language Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical journals and technical procedures
  • Ability to interact with internal users and management on technical changes made on forthcoming both verbal and via email

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical and complex situations
 
Reasoning Abilities
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
